Hey Lee... if that's Summit, NY just outside of Cobleskill, then you picked a great place to contest. I'm from Oneonta and adore the Catskills. We have friends with a camp on Summit Lake. Just sayin'....

Happy Holidays!

Thanks Mark for the kind words!

For everyday logging I use DL2RUM's RUMlog which is the best logger for my needs, LOTW integration, multiple rig control features, GROWL support etc etc. I use USB to serial adapters for rig control and that all works perfectly.

FB on on N2WG, I have seen his remote control K3 software via the iPhone but I am not sure if he ever finished it. :(

Hi Lee,

K2QO here. Love your Web site! Thanks for posting cool info. As a Mac aficionado, I am particularly jazzed.

At home and the business for which I'm the IT guy, everything is Mac except for, you guessed it, my shack PC. That machine is a 5 year old Dell laptop. I run N1MM and I have a K1EL, K2 and some Elecraft Transverters, TS690S, and maybe control for my Yaesu rotor in the near future. If the Dell dies unexpectedly, I'll likely buy a Mac Mini. These have 4 USB ports out of the box to make setup a bit easier. With a wireless mouse and KB, I can run everything I have right now w/o a USB hub.

My question for you is, what is your Mac setup?

Also, N3WG is working on iPad Apps for radio and the one that most intrigues me is iRover. I used it for the 222 VHF Fall Sprint as a rover and would LOVE to see it a bit more mature for use as my ONLY logging platform while out on the road.

Joel,

Thanks for the note. I'm not sure yet what damage, if any, to equipment connected to the APC line conditioner was caused by the AC supply. A Tripp-Lite Isotel surge strip, which is high quality in my opinion, was connected to the line conditioner. I had Astron power supplies powering my K3 and other radios and accessories plugged into the surge strip. The surge strip still worked after the strike, though the red fault LED is on, so I replaced the strip.

The K3 was damaged but it could have been the 13.8V supply (which I doubt), the coax (probably not, but maybe), or the serial cable from the computer. I think the last one is most likely, but I don't have the report from Elecraft yet. Neither Astron P/S was damaged, nor were the 2M and 450 radios and other accessories that were plugged into one of the supplies.

I really don't an issue with the APC line conditioner, and my two APC UPS units seem to be fine too.
