We are starting to see some really useful (and cool) technologies being introduced lately. Two that I have been playing around with is WebSDR and the Reverse Beacon Network. First off, the WebSDR sites are Java based webpages that allow you in real-time to listen to stations in a chunk of bandwidth. Many of these web sites have multiple bands that you can choose from. The real coo thing with WebSDR is the ability to listen to yourself at some remote location! The reverse beacon network works in a similar way but has its own different set of benefits. Similar to the WebSDR project, there are multiple receivers sprinkled across the globe and they are all running CW Skimmer. There are many different ways to use this network, for one you can start calling CQ on some band in CW and wait for your call to pop up in the list from one or multiple receivers. Another cool way is to look at history and compare your signal to other stations. I did this for the CQWW CW contest, I was able to insert my call along with the Multi-Multi stations and then compare what my signal was on specific bands at specific times. This is EXTREMELY useful to a contester as I can see how I compare to the large stations. For the average ham, this is also very useful in that both of these sites allow you to really know what type of signal strength you are achieving into multiple places around the world. The ability to be able to design, test and compare antennas to a specific part of the world in real-time is a very nice step in the right direction. Thanks to everyone that is contributing to these great and useful technologies.

73!

Lee
-WW2DX

I
knew going into the test the 80m sloper was not going to cut it and sure enough
I was right. The 4sq is on the top of the list for the spring. 160 just didn't
seem all that great and a last minute 500' wire pulled out into the swamp for a
beverage was mediocre at best. I think if I get better ears there things will
greatly improve. 40/20 were just awesome here all weekend and there was just
endless EU around the clock. I thought condx into AS were poor and did not have
a JA run. Some good DX called me in the early hours on 40m, 7Q7 and a few others
that my brain had a hard time decoding when my body expected to be sleeping.

All the equipment worked and nothing failed so I am thankful for that ;)
Running a pair of K3's was just awesome, they really are a joy to operate in
CW.
I also got a MK2R up and running last minute and that seems to be real nice as
well. N1MM is just amazing! The more I use it the more I love it. They really
did a nice job in that software.

I really should be writing this up later in the week after my brain has
recovered because I know I am missing a lot.

I think this contesting thing is pretty cool and I am looking forward to many
more.

73 and GL DX.
Lee
WW2DX.com

40-2CD @ 85'
TH7 @ 73
TH7 @ 33
80m Sloper
160L

K3 #464/Alpha 87a
K3 #1963/Alpha 78
After showing the antenna farm at W2RE then we headed to my QTH to show this station. After some pictures we then went to the local Irish Pub for food and drinks.
